Sociable

The most striking characteristic of Ragdolls is their affinity toward humans. They love human company, but they’re equally curious about other animals. Unfortunately, their interest in meeting new people makes them easy prey for thieves, so they are best to live their lives as indoor cats.

Relaxed

Ragdoll cats are known for being mellow, calm, and friendly. The Ragdoll’s name was inspired by its tendency to go limp when picked up, much like a rag doll. The Ragdoll temperament makes them great companions for families with children or seniors.

Ragdolls are known a Puppy Cats!

Ragdolls are playful, very friendly, and easy to train. Ragdoll cats are said to have a personality similar to that of a dog which has earned them the nickname ‘puppy cat‘. While the average cat has a reputation of being aloof, the Ragdoll cat loves human company and will happily follow you around the house and greet you at the front door when you arrive home. If you add a Ragdoll Cat to your home, don’t think you’ll ever be able to go to the bathroom alone again!

Ideal Cat for Families

Ragdolls are very patient animals, and they love being around children, so they make the perfect family pet! However, children should be taught proper pet care before bringing a Ragdoll Kitten home. Ragdolls are a remarkably tolerant breed, but wrong behavior such as pulling tails, shouting or excessive affection could cause the most docile of cats to lash out.

The easy-going Rag Doll Cat seems to enjoy the company of other cats. These cats make excellent companions for families with dogs, too.

Not all Ragdolls are created equally

Cat behavior varies according to many different factors. For example, some cats may be more aggressive than others due to genetics or past experience. Other factors include how much time each cat spends interacting with humans and other animals and what kind of environment they live in.

Ragdoll kittens born into a warm home, as part of a family, tend to be outgoing and friendly, while kittens raised by a breeder that chooses to keep the kittens in cages with little social interaction may become shy and reserved.

As far as the relationship with the mother goes, she provides the foundation for the kitten’s development. A mother who spends less time away from her kittens and shows them attention and affection helps develop a well-adjusted adult. Likewise, a mother who neglects her offspring leads to a timid personality later on. Therefore, it is important for a Ragdoll kitten to remain with its mother until at least 12 weeks of age.

That is why it is essential to make sure you purchase your kitten from a reputable Breeder. We recommend looking for a breeder who raises their kittens underfoot as part of their home. As a result, their kittens will be socialized and used to everyday noise like the vacuum cleaner.
