Taylor Swift is a well-known country music artist and singer-songwriter who has been in the industry since she was sixteen years old.  She has won 10 Grammy Awards and 22 American Music Awards. But, it’s not just her music she is known for, it’s also her love of cats! She shares photos of her cats on her Instagram page, and she literally takes them everywhere with her.

In fact, when Taylor Swift was named Time Magazine’s Person of the Year, her Ragdoll Cat Benjamin Button shared the front cover with her.

How many cats does Taylor Swift have and what breeds are they?

Taylor has three cats, all named after her favorite television and movie characters. Her oldest two cats are both Scottish folds named Meredith Gray, after Greys Anatomy, and Olivia Benson, from Law & Order. Her latest addition is a Ragdoll Cat, cutely named Benjamin Button after the 2008 film, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button featuring Brad Pitt.

What Kind of Cat is Benjamin Button?

Benjamin Button is an adorable Seal Bicolor Ragdoll Cat.  Ragdoll cats are known for their uniquely sweet and gentle nature, their stunning blue eyes and long silky coat. As an added bonus, these cats are known to be more dog-like than a typical cat! This means that they crave attention and love to follow you around.

When did Taylor get Benjamin Button?

Taylor first met Benjamin Button, the “purr box”, on the set of her music video for ME! in 2019 and immediately fell in love with him – who wouldn’t! When Taylor inquired about his adoption status, the cat handler in charge of the kitten responded with “He is available”, and with that, Benjamin Button was thrust into a pampered lifestyle better than most humans on earth could dream about! Taylor confirmed to the world that she had adopted Benjamin Button in the pre-release youtube chat for “Me!”. She commented, “Oh, and there’s a secret in the video that I’ve been keeping for months – let’s see who can guess it.”

You can see the first moment Taylor met Benjamin Button in this adorable behind the scenes video on the Taylor Swift YouTube channel

The ME! video features Brendon Urie of Panic! At the Disco! And her two other cats, Meredith Guy and Olivia Benson. Benjamin Button appears at the 2.10-minute mark when he is presented to Taylor from Brendon as a gift. Taylor commented that the ME! music video would serve as a reminder of the first time Benjamin Button came into her life.

Benjamin Button also features in the music video for “You Need to Calm Down” on the face of the wristwatch Taylor wears at the beginning of the video.
